The Artist

Jeff Schmidt is a multi-talented artist with a passion for creative expression and a life well-lived. Born and raised in the Canadian prairies, he spent most of his childhood exploring the forest behind his house, building treehouses and imaginatively drawing. As an adult, his love for both the outdoors and creativity have continued to be a source of fulfilment and sanctuary.

Jeff's career took him to London, where he was able to fully utilise his creative talents. He worked in a variety of roles, including Visual Merchandising Director, Stage Set Designer in the city’s West End, Portrait Artist, and Head of Art and Design in a prestigious independent school. Despite his success, Jeff's ambition and fulsome pace eventually took a toll on his health. In 2020, he experienced a series of unexpected heart attacks that forced him to slow down and reevaluate his lifestyle choices. This was a turning point that led him back to his roots, combining his passion for creativity with the natural world and well-being.

Jeff has a distinctive approach to capturing the beauty in the everyday moment and the emotion that so often accompanies it. His art is both captivating and noteworthy. Jeff's work is highly collectable and his illustrations have been featured in a wide variety of publications, events, and commissions. His unique insights and experiences have also inspired a best-selling illustrated book, Heart Attack- Finding Hope, joy and inspiration through adversity.

Today, Jeff continues, as he did in his childhood, to find joy in exploring the world and documenting its goodness. His work is a beautiful reminder of the wonder, curiosity and joy we strive to experience.
